Job Description

Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

·   Assists with the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures related to industrial hygiene and safety.

·   Provide industrial hygiene support, sampling and solutions as needed.  Provide safety support and manage and administer one or more institutional health and safety programs or services.

·  Develop resolutions to complex problems requiring creative analysis of variable factors.

·  Determine objectives, methods, and procedures for new assignments.

·  Participates in ISO implementation.

·  Assists with OSHA, EPA, DOT and TCEQ compliance activities.  Spend extensive amount of time on the plant floor determining compliance related concerns and corrective actions.

·  Assists the Environmental Engineer with assessing any existing or potential environmental impacts of land use projects on air, water, or land

  •         Assists with the management of hazardous waste, including waste characterization, site inspections, and training.
  •        Assists with industrial hygiene related projects, including water and air sampling, indoor air quality assessment, surface wipe sampling, qualitative assessments, etc.
  •       Performs Environmental system compliance audits and tasks which include the following:

o   DPCC/SPCC inspections.

o   Air and Water Permit audits.

o   Waste storage and accumulation area inspections.

o   Waste logs, inventory and disposal.

o   Chemical Storage/containment/spill equipment inspections.

o   Pollution control equipment inspections.

·  Participates in the Incident Investigation process, tracks and follows up on corrective actions.

·  Assists with planning, safety inspection protocols, or sampling.

·  Evaluates environmental test results/inspections and makes recommendations as necessary for maintaining compliance with regulatory agency requirements/permits.

·  Participates in all safety related activities, trainings and meetings.

  • Performs above mentioned responsibilities safely, ethically and in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Education/Experience, SKILLSET

·   Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or other related science field. 

·   Minimum 3-5 years EHS experience that includes experience in Environmental and Safety auditing, and Industrial Hygiene.

·   Strong data management, evaluation, and analytical skills.

·   Strong written and verbal communications skills.

·   Experienced in using EHS software.

·   Familiarity with regulatory agency interactions and standards, such as OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and other local agency standards.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • ·        Sitting for extended periods of time using a computer.
  • ·        Walking between departments and using stairs.
  • ·        Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, or otherwise access small spaces to work on equipment.

Summary

The EHS Specialist supports US operations at Coim USA in the New Boston, Texas location. This full-time position supports EHS operations in the plant by completing critical tasks designed to promote regulatory and safety compliance with federal, state, and local Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.
