Chemistry Lab Assistant, SC1CHEMISCHEM (SP26)
Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in chemistry labs.

Prepare chemicals, solutions and equipment for individual experiments according to standard techniques and calculations.

Help maintain inventories of chemicals and equipment including counting all chemical bottles and equipment in laboratories and prep room.

General clean-up of individual laboratories and preparation areas, including but not limited to fume hoods, balances, lab benches.

Replace broken or missing glassware and equipment in student drawers according to check-in sheets.

Other miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education
- Understand basic concepts of Chemistry as taught in Chem. 1551 and.
- 1552 or equivalent required.
- Completion of Chem 1551 and Chem 1552 or equivalent required.
- THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.

Working Conditions:

Chemical balances, hot plates, computers, chemical glassware such as beakers, flasks and pipets.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Must be able to reach high areas via ladder.

Must be able to set up individual experiments including gathering of all chemistry equipment used.

This student position does not require pre-employment testing.

Pay Rate: Student Rate 1 - $15.00 per hour
