Job Summary:

The 21st Century Program Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the after-school program. This position ensures a safe, engaging, and well-organized environment for students, supports and supervises staff, and builds positive relationships with families and school personnel. The coordinator focuses on high-quality programming that balances academic support, enrichment, and student engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee daily after-school program operations, including schedules, activities, and transitions
  • Supervise, support, and communicate regularly with after-school staff
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment for all students
  • Monitor student attendance and participation; implement strategies to improve engagement
  • Address student behavior concerns using positive behavior supports
  • Communicate effectively with families, school-day staff, and administration
  • Coordinate a variety of activities that include academic support, enrichment, and recreation
  • Ensure smooth daily operations, including student check-in and dismissal procedures
  • Respond to day-to-day challenges, including staff absences or scheduling issues
  • Gather feedback from students and staff to improve program quality

Qualifications:

  • Experience in running an after-school program
  • Experience working with school-age children in an educational or youth program setting
  • Experience supervising staff or leading a team preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all students

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily after-school hours; some daytime planning or meetings may be required
  • Work takes place in a school setting, including classrooms, gym, and outdoor spaces
  • May require standing, walking, and supervising active students
