Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, or 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM with weekend and holiday rotation


The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician supports the operation of the Outpatient Pharmacy by performing the technical aspects of filling prescriptions such as: collecting patient demographics and insurance information, inputting prescriptions into the computer system, ensuring accurate and efficient adjudication of online claims, counting/measuring and/or reconstituting drug products, compounding medications when needed and collecting payment.  In addition to these filling activities, the technician performs clerical duties such as: answering phones, opening mail, initiating prior authorizations, and assisting in record-keeping including inventory control.  The technician will also be responsible for maintaining high personal standards of customer service and satisfaction.


The Discharge Specialist Pharmacy Technician is a position in the Outpatient Pharmacy. The Discharge Specialist is responsible for facilitating and expediting the medication-related discharge process by supporting the functions of Inpatient Pharmacists, Discharge Pharmacist, and the Outpatient Pharmacy staff. The positions will be primarily responsible for proactively reviewing and verifying patients’ drug benefit information to ensure reimbursement requirements are met and help to ensure seamless transitions in care. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to proactively obtaining payment information for patients using Meriter Outpatient Pharmacy at discharge, processing test claims for discharge medications, and processing medication prior authorizations/requests. The Discharge Specialist will work with floor staff to identify patients who are unable to afford their medications and ensure they are enrolled in appropriate assistance programs, if available.

The Discharge Specialist will also facilitate bedside delivery of prescriptions, assisting the Outpatient/Discharge Pharmacist with copay collection and physical delivery of the prescriptions.
