Missouri Options Teacher


 


Essential Functions



  • Must possess and maintain a professional attitude and climate that is conducive to working with at-risk youth.

  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.

  • Provide direct one-on-one/small group instruction as needed and assist with online instruction to students that are enrolled in CASA

  • Coordinate and deliver core educational programming for the students placed in the program.

  • Ability to use blended learning and differentiate methods and meet specific student needs

  • Support student social/emotional development

  • Work with students on research-based strategies to improve student achievement (e.g. goal setting),

  • Communicate with parents regarding academic progress; etc.

  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.

  • Must possess the ability to motivate students towards task completion and incorporate accountability systems of assurance.

  • Serves students that have been placed in C.A.S.A./long term suspension as an alternative to out-of-school suspension.

  • Must be available for afterschool meetings throughout the school year as needed.


Note: The program will primarily focus on supporting secondary students. However, elementary students may periodically be placed in this program.


Additional Duties



  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the coordinator of alternative learning/principal(s).

Qualifications



  • Missouri K-12 teaching certification (Staff member will provide direct instruction in auxiliary subject areas: high school electives and middle school arts)

  • Special education certification preferred


Education



  • Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
