QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work extensively with computer data entry and word processing
Ability to relate well with staff, parents, and community members
Ability to operate office machines
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Skilled in bookkeeping tasks
Knowledge of student database system
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs clerical duties in the preparation of truancy affidavits as required by K.S.A. 72-1111 and 72-1113 and USD 501 Regulation 8075. Performs office routines and practices associated with a busy, productive and smooth running environment; including telephone, typing/word processing, maintaining filing system, preparing mailings. Will work with confidential records, schedule appointments with parents and staff, maintain calendar, set-up meetings, collect research information, and perform varied and related office duties.
SPECIFIC DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
Identifying students with attendance issues and intervene with poor attendance behavior
prior to violation of Kansas Laws and school district regulations.
Work with parents of students who exhibit poor attendance to identify a method to help the student remain in school
Work with school administrators, teachers and staff to correct poor attendance and
truancy issues
Prepare truancy affidavits and keep accurate up-to-date data in student database
Frequent student home visits with campus police or other school staff
Maintain, track, and distribute metro bus passes
Assist with student transport when necessary
Other duties as assigned
