Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

The Pre-Make Ready Technician is responsible for producing flexographic printing plates, mounting them accurately, and preparing all materials required for upcoming press jobs. This position plays a key role in ensuring plates, anilox rolls, inks, and tooling are ready and in proper condition before production, supporting smooth press changeovers, high-quality printing, and minimal downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Produce flexographic printing plates according to job specifications, including imaging, exposing, processing, and drying.
  • Mount plates precisely on printing sleeves or cylinders, following registration marks and specifications.
  • Verify plate quality and accuracy before and after mounting.
  • Prepare and stage all job component plates, and proof ahead of scheduled production.
  • Maintain plate-making equipment, mounting tables, and related tools in clean, calibrated condition.
  • Organize and maintain the plate library and storage system for quick access and re-use.
  • Track and manage plate-making materials, mounting tape, and supplies; notify supervisor when reordering is needed.
  • Work closely with press operators to confirm that all pre-make ready work meets press requirements.
  • Follow all food safety, 5S, and safety guidelines, including PPE usage.
  • Assist in troubleshooting plate or mounting issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Previous experience in flexographic plate making/mounting, Able to work independently and in a team setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
