Description

The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project.

We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members.


The Per Diem Program Facilitator provides operational and programmatic support for initiatives across multiple departments, including Membership, Community Engagement, DreamLab, and Camps, as needed. Activities may take place at one of the council camps, the Riverdale Office, DreamLab, or other off-site locations. This role ensures high-quality delivery of programs and events while representing Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey in a professional and engaging manner.


Responsibilities:

· Support the execution of assigned programmatic and/or membership initiatives across departments.

· Deliver activities in a troop/group setting aligned with the four pillars of Girl Scouting: STEM, Outdoors, Entrepreneurship, and Life Skills.

· Assist in organizing and facilitating girl-led activities that foster leadership, confidence, and collaboration.

· Create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment that promotes friendships and personal growth.

· Supervise participants during on-site and off-site activities, that may include field trips; may occasionally ride in vehicles, including school buses.

· Set up and break down equipment, materials, and decorations for programs and events.

· Transport program supplies and materials as needed.

· Complete all necessary paperwork for the programs, events, and GSNNJ initiatives.

· Communicate learnings and escalate issues to GSNNJ staff as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements


· Must be at least 18 years of age.

· First Aid certification required for girl-specific programs.

· Punctual, reliable, and attentive.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with youth, families, staff, and community partners.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.

· Membership in Girl Scouts of the USA required upon hire and annually thereafter.


Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Maintain visual awareness of campers/program participants at all times

· Observe and respond quickly to emergency situations

· Hear, understand, and respond promptly to verbal instructions, program participant/camper concerns, whistles, alarms, and other safety signals.

· Frequently stand, walk, sit during working hours

· Ability to bend, kneel, squat

· Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs

· If working in camp, must be able to work in a rustic camp environment in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and direct sun with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet.


This position is not eligible for benefits except for the state mandated sick leave pay.
