Literacy Interventionist (0.2 FTE) Needed
Location: Hinesburg Community School

Hinesburg Community School (HCS) is seeking a part-time (0.2 FTE), faculty-level Literacy Intervention Teacher to support our middle-level students. We are looking for a dynamic and energetic educator with deep expertise in structured literacy instruction and a passion for working with students in grades 5–8.
This position is vital to our mission of ensuring all students achieve grade-level expectations. The successful candidate will work primarily with small groups of students, providing the additional time and specialized support necessary for their success in literacy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Providing direct, evidence-based literacy intervention (small group and 1:1) for students in grades 5–8.
- Utilizing structured literacy practices to address diverse learning needs and close achievement gaps.
- Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to align intervention with Tier 1 instruction and develop effective schedules.
- Collecting, interpreting, and using formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
- Establishing a strong rapport with middle-level students to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
- Thriving within a teaming environment, working independently when needed while maintaining high levels of collaboration.
- Aligning instruction with Common Core Standards and best practices for middle-level programming.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and families regarding student progress and instructional goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Current Vermont Professional Educators License in one of the following areas (or eligibility to obtain):
- K–8 Literacy
- K–6 with a 5–9 ELA endorsement
- K–8 or K–12 Literacy Specialist
- Proven expertise in structured literacy instruction and knowledge of Common Core Standards.
- Strong understanding of developmental progressions and middle-level best practices.
- Demonstrated strength in data analysis and matching interventions to student learning profiles.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a flexible, creative approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to equitable instructional practices and a collegial, innovative spirit.
