Summary of Position:
The Director of Procurement leads Bake’n Joy’s end-to-end sourcing strategy for raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality supply. This role aligns procurement initiatives with corporate objectives, driving cost optimization, supplier excellence, and operational resilience. The Director partners cross-functionally with Production, R&D, Quality, and Sales to ensure procurement strategies support innovation, growth, and profitability.
Leadership
- Collaborate cross-functionallywith Manufacturing, Sales, Research & Development, and Food Quality & Safety teams to align sourcing strategies with product development and production needs.
- Forecast procurement needs,monitorstock levels,maintainsafety stock, andexpeditethe delivery of goods when necessary.
- Establish and champion best-in-class procurement practices.
- Stay abreast of relevant economic, industry, supply market, and business conditions to update the strategy andensureadequate and competitive supply of critical products to support ongoing business needs.
- Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement aligned with the Bake’nJoy culture.
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to team members, supporting career growth and skill development.
- Grow and develop talent through clear performance expectations, coaching, and regular feedback.
Category Management
- Lead category strategy development and execution across all material types, driving total cost optimization, quality, and supply continuity.
- Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators and continuously refine sourcing plans to improve profitability and working capital.
Supplier and Market Management
- Cultivate and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop andmaintainstrategic supplier partnerships to ensure reliable supply, quality, and cost competitiveness.
- Lead supplier reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to align vendor performance withBake’nJoy’s operational and financialobjectives.
- Anticipate supplier risks that could affect supply or impact financials, including managing the performance of suppliers to drive alignment with company goals andobjectives.
- Monitor market dynamics and commodity trends to inform sourcing strategies and mitigate risks.
Operational Procurement Management
- Oversee procurement operations, ensuring timely anda accurate delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
- Resolve issues with schedule adherence, supplier on-time delivery, required shelf life, quality, and price by working with the appropriate internal teams.
- Manage incoming raw materials and packaging, including inbound transportation, to ensure inventory is maintained at the optimum level to support production needs while keeping inventory at the appropriate levels.
Contracting and Negotiation
- Direct supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management to achieve best-in-class quality, cost, and delivery standards.
- Secure favorable commercial terms while managing contractual risk.
- Monitor commodity markets and implement proactive purchasing strategies to optimize pricing and supply security.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement within manufacturing; at least 4 years in the food industry preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in category management, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems; advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Leadership
- Demonstrated success leading procurement teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to deliver cost savings and improve supplier performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position supervises the Procurement team
Work Environment
- The role primarily operatesin an office environment but requires regular interaction with manufacturing facilities and suppliers. The noise level is typically low to moderate, with occasional exposure to higher noise levels in production areas.
Compensation
The typical starting salary range for this position is $141,000-$194,000 / year. Several factors, including skills, experience, education, certifications, and the location of the job will determine the actual pay offered. The salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for associates in these positions.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
