    JOB DESCRIPTION


    Position Title:   Certified Teacher - 4th Grade - Leave Replacement
    Location:         Cedar Ridge  Elementary
    Department:     Building Personnel
    Reports to:       Building Principal
    FLSA Class:     Exempt
    FTE:                  1.0

    SUMMARY

    This position provides instruction to students and performs a wide variety of tasks with curriculum planning, supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and teaching children in a classroom setting.

    DUTIES

    1. Teaches District approved curriculum.
    2. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
    3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
    4. Strives to implement by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
    5. Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
    6. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
    7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    8. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
    9. Shows concern for physical well-being and wholesome mental attitudes of pupils.
    10. Accepts the responsibility for the conduct and behavior of pupils whenever the students are under the school's jurisdiction.
    11. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
    12. Attends staff meetings, accepts committee appointments and the responsibility for working with other staff members on projects concerned with the improvement of the total school program.
    13. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
    14. Insures that instructional materials are utilized effectively for learning purposes.
    15. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
    16. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
    17. Cooperates with agencies toward the development of friendly and intelligent school-community relations.
    18. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
    19. Recognizes and makes provisions for meeting individual differences among students.
    20. Demonstrates adequate knowledge and competency in his/her teaching field.
    21. Uses a variety of educational tools to effectively evaluate strengths and weaknesses of classes, small groups, and individuals.
    22. Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students, with the assistance of District specialists.
    23. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
    24. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
    25. Perform all other duties reasonably related to position as may be assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
    2. Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
    3. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
    4. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
    5. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner

     

    COMPENSATION

    Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision available

    Per the negotiated contract between McLean County Unit 5 and the United Five Education Association, for the 2026-2027 school year the starting salary range for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree is $42,640-$52,319and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience.  Candidates with a Master's Degree is $47,756-$61,017  and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience
