Job Description

We are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Teacher for our Melton Campus to commence in Term 2, 2026 on a full time, permanent basis. 

 

In this role, you will provide direct specialist support to students with disability and additional learning needs, while working closely with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional practices to support inclusive learning.

 

The Campus
The OneSchool Global Melton Campus is situated in the small town of Officer.  Over the last 10 years it has grown significantly, now providing students with state of the art, purpose-built learning facilities.  Integrated with the latest educational technology supporting the ability to teach in a future-proof innovative space, the Campus boasts vibrant teaching areas for both primary and secondary students.  Offering that small school atmosphere, our current student numbers total only 120 students.

About You
The successful candidate must be a VIT-registered teacher with a strong understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Syllabus, and be willing to embrace modern teaching methods and technologies.

Experience working with students who have identified and diagnosed high-need autism, and/or experience developing and delivering Life Skills programs, will be highly desirable.

You will need to be comfortable stepping away from traditional classroom teaching practices, to embrace modern teaching methods and technologies including video conferencing and online resources.

Essential Experience: 

  • Expertise in neurodiversity: Demonstrated experience supporting students with Down Syndrome and broader neurodiverse needs
  • Individualised education planning: Proven ability to develop and implement personalised learning programs, including differentiation and adjustment documentation aligned to NCCD
  • Targeted interventions: Experience delivering evidence-based interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and learning development
  • Collaboration: Ability to work closely with classroom teachers to design and implement curriculum adjustments, and partner with families, allied health professionals, and support staff
  • Whole-school support: Experience participating in or contributing to a Learning Support Team to coordinate consistent, school-wide approaches
  • Behaviour and engagement strategies: Familiarity with trauma-informed practice, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), and approaches such as “Kids Do Well If They Can” (Ross Greene)
  • Communication supports: Understanding of AAC, visuals, and strategies to support expressive and receptive language
  • Professional learning: Ability to mentor and upskill colleagues in inclusive teaching practices
  • Personal care and dignity: Ability to provide respectful support with toileting and hygiene needs, maintaining confidentiality and student dignity at all times
