Job Title:   Assistant Coach 


Department:  Athletics


Supervisor:  Head Coach and Athletic Director


Classification:  Certified/Licensed


Contract Length:  205 Days


FLSA Status: Exempt





 


Job Summary


Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition.  This position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.  Position centers on creating positive relationships with student athletes.  The successful candidate is to be an exemplary role model for all athletes, school, community, and District.  





Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree 

  • Valid Arkansas Teachers license with Coaching endorsement or Teacher/Coach Certification

  • 3 years of current or past experience as head or assistant coach, preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student athletes

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills





Essential Duties - Coaching



  • Adhere to Pea Ridge School District Athletic Department Philosophy and policies.

  • Conducts self as a personal example of positive demeanor for the athletes and represents the school in a favorable manner. 

  • Assesses player’s skills and assigns team positions.

  • Coaches and instructs players, individually and in groups, regarding rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.

  • Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement. 

  • Determines game strategy based on the teams’ capabilities.

  • Scouts opponents and game plans with head coach and assistant coaches.

  • Conducts meetings, as necessary.

  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury. 

  • Maintains coaching certifications, as required by the Arkansas Activities Association and Pea Ridge School District.

  • Maintains accurate records for students athletes, practices, and programs.

  • Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms. 

  • Responsible for the safety and security of athletes and team before, during, and after program events. 

  • Monitor scholastic eligibility of student athletes.

  • Communicates with families and athletes, as needed.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
