Job TitleOperator A – Progressive/Transfer Press Job Description    

Reports to: Department Supervisor at specific Business Unit

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Schedule: Monday through Thursday- Overtime as needed.

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

Perform all Progressive/Transfer Press functions involved in the manufacturing and assembly processes of Modineer Company. Progressive/Transfer Press Operators includes, but is not limited to, the setup (tighten bolts down as needed), operation and troubleshooting of transfer, progressive and hand line press operations ranging between 600 tons and 1500 tons.   They also have the responsibility to run other types of production equipment related to stamping operations such as fork trucks and crane as needed. The individual must read and understand gauges and measurement tools and have knowledge of “Quick Die Change Methodology”.  Employees must follow standard work instructions and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Setup, operation and troubleshooting of Progressive/Transfer Press operations
  • Responsible for setting dies in an appropriate time period
  • Responsible to run other types of production equipment related to stamping operations (i.e. fork truck and overhead crane as needed).
  • Load and unload parts
  • Read and understand work instructions
  • Wear appropriate PPE
  • Handle/lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis
  • Perform product quality checks in accordance with work instructions
  • Package parts per specifications
  • Read and understand measurement devices
  • Perform housekeeping tasks

 

Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

 

  • Must have working knowledge of quality inspection gauges and measurement tools
  • Must be able to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial indicator, and caliper
  • Must be able to accurately complete all required Modineer production system documentation such as production reports, inspection reports, etc.
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Basic computer skills is required 

Physical environment/working conditions:

The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.
