Description
The Audio Visual Technician performs a wide range of commercial audio and visual work, including the installation, operation, and repair of professional A/V systems. This includes equipment such as audio mixers, video switchers, monitors, LCD displays, projectors, speakers, video cameras, lighting, and streaming technology. The role supports live events, churches, auditoriums, conference rooms, and other venues across all Forest Lawn locations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Transport, set up and operate audio, video, lighting, and recording equipment at various locations to provide professional services for funeral services, hosted meetings, and community events.
- Assist and perform installation of audio/video equipment that include monitors, projectors, speakers, cameras, lighting, and streaming equipment for churches, auditoriums, and conference rooms.
- Resolve technical issues for audio and video equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of AV equipment including system hardware and software upgrades.
- Provide training and technical assistance to end users.
- Operate a variety of powered hand tools including drills, cable cutters, wire strippers, etc.
- Operate platform and boom lift equipment to heights up to thirty feet.
- Able to work independently with little direct supervision and work well with others within a team environment.
- Continue education and skill development to ensure that technical ability is compatible to current requirements.
- Must be flexible to accommodate shift changes including extended hours, weekends, and evenings.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments receiving and communicating instructions via written communication, telephone, or in person.
- Must maintain professional appearance and demeanor
- Strong organizational skills with ability to handle competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and familiarity briefing senior level management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Minimum two years of full-time technical experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of audio-visual equipment.
- Bilingual a plus but not required
Required working knowledge of the following:
- Audio Visual equipment including professional digital and analog audio systems, mixers, wired and wireless microphone systems, amplifiers, dynamic processors, video cameras, video and audio recorders, and video projection equipment.
- Multi-source video switchers
- Cable types and application – HDMI, Cat5-8, XLR, SDI, DMX (Ability to build and assemble cables a plus).
- Understanding of AV system networking via Ethernet and Dante
- Operation of both Windows and Mac OS operating systems. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook skills.
- DMX fixture programing a plus

Drug Testing Policy

The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.
