Job Description

Summary:

Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a LODO25 Space SME Space Intel to support NATO’s Joint Force Training Center (JFTC) Exercise LOYAL DOLOS 2025 (LODO25). Exercise LOYAL DOLOS 2025 (LODO 25) Exercise Specifications (EXSPECs) draw an ambitious NATO Major Joint Exercise (MJX) and a major challenge for all exercise participants. The complexity of the setting, scenario, and the integration of Strategic, Operational, and Tactical-level Space domain activities require expertise and specialized experience to ensure realistic play for the Primary Training Audience (PTA) and Secondary Training Audience (STA). The complex exercise play requires development of the work packages to effectively coordinate a dynamic development of supportive Space domain to respective scenario material. This is a short-term assignment not expected to last more than a total of 25 days over the course of two phases:

 

  • Phase I. 30 September – 09 October 2025; Main Event List/Main Incident List (MEL/MIL) Scripting Workshop (up to 10 man days)
  • Phase II. 27 November – 11 December 2025; EXCON Trainings and Executions (E-Blocks) (up to 15 man days)

 

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work Package 1. Main Event List/Main Incident List (MEL/MIL) Scripting Workshop

    • Provides SPACE generic subject matter expertise to storyline custodians.
    • Familiarize themselves with all developed storyline storyboards and provide SPACE SMEs scripting support to completion of storylines.
    • Following instructions of JFTC Space coordinators help to coordinate scripting support to all foreseen storylines and to the control scripting progress.
  • Work Package 2. EXCON Trainings and Executions (E-Blocks)
    • During EXCON training receives precise guidance by EXCON Space Coordinator and prepares themselves for fulfilling their own foreseen E-Block tasks.
    • During EXCON training, they improve drafted reports and their own dynamic scripting guidance to EXCON dynamic scripter and EXCON coordinator.
    • Following guidance / instructions of JFTC coordinator and Chief OPFOR, dynamically scripts required Space products and/or coordinates to communities of EXCON RCs.
    • Oversees and manages dynamically scripted Space play ensuring the Space picture is complete, plausible and synchronized to maximum benefit and effect for the Training Audience.
    • Double checks (content wise) and coordinates release of the newly scripted reporting ICCW JFTC Space coordinators, Chief OPFOR and EXCON Event Managers.
    • Liaises / coordinates closely with Event Managers in terms of their subject matter expertise.
    • Attends and contributes to daily EXCON Coordination Meetings.
    • Cooperates closely with MC LCC Red RFI manager and JFTC Scenario Team.
    • Supports (if required) the Red RFI response processes.
    • Assists, if necessary, LC RCs’ Space personnel in development of Space products.
    • Analyze and coordinate Space actions with all Space stakeholders IOT manage Space-related information including vertical and/or cross functional coordination with the CFSpCC, NSpOC and other HQs SpSCEs.
    • Provide commanders & TA with expertise and guidance on Space support to operations, which enhances a commander’s & TA ability to task, collect, process and act on space-based products, information and warnings. Experience in the integration of joint space capabilities includes: Space-based communications, Position & Navigation from space rooted assets (to incl. NAVWAR), Satellite based intelligence collection & surveillance operations, coordination with METOC for Space Environment products and services, Space security, incl. Defensive & Offensive Counter Spaces actions, EMI Reporting of Space (MIJIWARNREP etc. based on APP-11), Submission of Space related signals, SATRAN, REACT & kinetic and non-reversible effects.
    • Fulfils other ad hoc subject matter tasks, as per guidance and instruction by EXCON Space Coordinators.
    • In close cooperation with JFTC Space coordinators and the OPFOR team identifies potential alternate OPFOR maneuvers, related dynamic scripting requirements for them.
    • Fulfils other ad hoc subject matter tasks, as per guidance and instruction from EXCON.
  • Work collaboratively with the entire EXCON Space Cell to establish coordination and production requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination of subject matter expert (SME) input.
  • Assist in the development of required OPFOR products.
  • If required, develop and deliver various briefings / presentations and products in support of EXCON intelligence coordination meetings.
  • Provide critical input in support of active lesson-learning.
  • Provides expertise on current and near-term Space operations, ensuring the integration of Space into NATO Operations.
  • Archive and catalogue.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have certificates for the Introduction to Space Support to NATO Operations and NATO Space Support Coordinator Course or US/EU CIV/MIL equivalent.
  • Demonstrate in-depth, recent experience within the last 3 years in NATO Strategic, Operational and National Strategic, Operational Level Space production, processes and functionality.
  • At least 2 years of strategic and/or operational experience based on service in HQs at SHAPE, Space CoE and/or JFC level. Trained and experienced in Space operations / analysis. Staff experience in a multinational Space environment.
  • Staff experience in a multinational Space environment.
  • Demonstrate experience or qualifications with using NATO Functional Area Systems (FAS) including NCOP and JEMM.
  • Experience in providing Space contribution for the development of Training events (MEL/MIL-based).
  • Experienced in providing friendly & enemy Space Order of Battle (ORBAT).
  • Experience in assisting targeting by providing recommendations and relevant space information to the targeting community via the targeting process.
  • Proficiency in the use of JEMM (Joint Exercise Management Tool).
  • Native English language speakers or present Expert level Professional Proficiency of spoken and written English, with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive understanding and experience with planning and requesting SSR’s of Space cells, analysis and production of Space products.
  • Demonstrate recent (past 2 years) exposure to NATO exercise scenarios.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the structures, policies and operating principles of NATO at the operational level at both Joint Headquarters and Component level.
  • Good knowledge of NATO OPSCEN & CIS tools (JChat, JOCWATCH, NCOP, SRP).
  • Experience in Space planning at major command level. Extensive experience of Space support to tactical, operational and strategic operations.
  • Comprehensive Operations Planning Course.

 

Clearance:  Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET security clearance.

Location:  NATO Joint Force Training Centre, Bydgoszcz, Poland

Travel: Travel may be required within and outside NATO’s boundaries.
