Job Summary



 



Work under a supervising physician in Excelsior Express urgent care.  The ideal candidate will be qualified to provide high-quality care to patients with acute musculoskeletal conditions in a fast-paced clinical setting.  This role offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, other advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff to delivery comprehensive orthopedic care.  When working in Express, you will benefit from a flexible working schedule covering a combination of Mon-Fri, 8a-9p and Saturday, 9a-6p, resulting in a 3-, 4-, or 5-day custom schedule; full- and part-time opportunities are available.



 



Duties and Responsibilities



 




  • Obtain patients complete medical history and physical data.

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, such as fractures, sprain, strains, and joint injuries.

  • Perform physical examinations and order diagnostic imaging such as x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, as necessary.

  • Provide patient education, effectively explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

  • Administer treatments including joint injections, reductions, and other minor orthopedic procedures.

  • Prescribe medications--schedule III, IV, and V controlled substances to the extent permitted by licensing and administer prescribed medications as directed; develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.

  • Work closely with clinical support:

    • LPN to handle rooming patient, starting the note, supporting the provider by handling injection draws and/or support during procedures, and patient discharge.

    • DME Specialist to handle all durable medical equipment needs and answer all insurance-related questions.

    • Scribe to shadow the visit and make chart entries through scribed notes.



  • Attend continuing education courses as requested.

  • Handle other duties as assigned.
