About the Role

This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you’ll support KidsZone and KidsClub programs while helping create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children from infancy through school age. As a Coordinator, you’ll assist with program operations, staff support, and participant experience while spending the majority of your time working directly with children and families. You’ll balance direct service, team support, and day-to-day operations, playing a key role in keeping programs running smoothly and successfully at the YMCA.

What You’ll Do

  • Support daily operations of KidsZone and KidsClub programs

  • Provide direct care and supervision for infants through school-age children (majority of time)

  • Lead activities, engage children, and create a safe, positive environment

  • Assist with program scheduling and staff coordination

  • Help develop and expand programs based on community needs

  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of staff

  • Provide feedback, coaching, and assist with team evaluations

  • Process scheduling and payroll functions

  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to child care standards

  • Respond to parent questions, concerns, and feedback in a timely manner

  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff using a “Listen First” approach

  • Support fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives

  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of experience working with children (infant through school age preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable working with diverse groups of children and families

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Basic computer skills, including Office 365

  • Patient, energetic, and attentive

This Role Might Not Be a Fit If…

  • You prefer a desk-only or administrative role

  • You’re not comfortable working directly with infants, toddlers, and young children

  • You prefer a predictable, quiet work environment

  • You’re not comfortable working evenings, weekends, or holidays

  • You don’t enjoy balancing multiple responsibilities at once

What the Job Is Really Like

  • You’ll spend most of your time actively supervising, engaging, and caring for children

  • You’ll move between age groups, activities, and program needs throughout the day

  • You’ll balance hands-on child care with administrative responsibilities

  • You’ll support staff while stepping in wherever needed

  • Your day will be active, fast-paced, and centered around children and families

What You Bring

  • Experience in child care, youth programs, or a related field preferred

  • Ability to engage and supervise children across multiple age groups

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families

  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to be flexible and support a variety of program needs

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Make a direct impact on children and families every day

  • Active, engaging, and child-centered work environment

  • Opportunity to grow skills in leadership and early childhood/youth development

  • Mission-driven organization focused on strengthening community

Our Mission

  • To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all
