Duties:
The SEPC Coordinator is guided by and works closely with the SGA Vice President of Academic Affairs to enhance the SEPC initiative's value to the campus at large and to be accessible to SEPC members. The SEPC Coordinator will be an integral part of the SGA Cabinet and will assist with the overall goal of building community within majors and concentrations. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to academic advocacy for students at a campus-wide level. If eligible to work the SEPC Coordinator can expect to work no more than a maximum of 15 hours a week.
Meeting requirements:
1. Attend all Cabinet meetings every first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm when classes are in session and excluding finals.
2. Attend all Senate meetings, held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 8:00 pm while classes are in session and excluding finals.
3. Attend all SCC meetings.
4. Attend training at 4:15 on Tuesdays.
Regularly work with the VPAA to manage the Student Council on Curriculum (SCC)
. Develop long-term resources for SEPC members
. Informational resources (e.g. How to Conduct a Faculty Review /
Hiring Process, Leading Effective Meetings with the Department Chair,
How to Host Engaging Events and Build Community in the Major, etc.)
. Serve as a resource and advocate for SEPC members
. Serve as a resource for students at large with academic questions by providing them with excellent and appropriate referrals
. Collecting and assessing current SEPC practices to draw meaningful conclusions about effective programming, budgeting, relationship, and
community building (between SEPC members and faculty, staff, and students)
. Assist in developing relationships between SEPCs (as a collective and individually) with other constituencies on campus
. Communication and outreach about SEPCs as a collective to engage students in their work and facilitate their understanding as "ambassadors" for the major.
