Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE  

 

The Transformation Course Assistant shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

 

This position supports and facilitates Challenge Course activities, ensuring a safe, high-quality experience that fosters personal growth, teamwork, and meaningful engagement for all participants.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

Header [95% of time] 

  • Assist in the facilitation of Challenge Course activities, supporting engaging and growth-oriented group experiences  

  • Set up, operate, and tear down equipment in accordance with safety standards and established procedures  

  • Ensure proper use, care, and storage of all equipment  

  • Maintain a safe, organized environment by adhering to all field guides and operational protocols  

  • Assist with participant check-in, including collection of required waivers and documentation 

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and encouraging atmosphere for all participants  

  • Communicate effectively with team members to support smooth program operations   

  • Encourage participants to engage at their comfort level while supporting personal growth  

  • Demonstrate stewardship of the natural environment and facilities 

Additional Responsibilities [5% of time] 

  • Participate in Navigators on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate. 

  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required. 

  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system. 

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

 

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Demonstrates a commitment to integrating faith, values, and spiritual awareness into the guest experience. 

Experience: In outdoor facilitation or related activities preferred. Ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and operate in a dynamic outdoor environment. Familiarity with challenge course or climbing equipment is a plus. 

Communication & Leadership: Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required to effectively engage with participants and collaborate with team members. Ability to encourage, guide, and support individuals and groups in a positive and respectful manner. 

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. 

Compensation: $16.90 hourly
