Job Description

The expected salary range for this position is $170,000 - $200,000 depending on experience

This position is required to be on-site, Monday through Friday.

DESCRIPTION:

As a Corporate Payroll Director at Tutor Perini Corp., reporting to Director of Payroll you will be responsible for the management, processing and distribution of payroll, payroll tax, and union reporting.

  • Manage the process of a multi-state in-house daily, weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for 37 companies in a centralized processing department to meet determined deadlines

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory reporting requirements and guidelines

  • Maintain internal controls and compliance for payroll SOX internal and external audits

  • Oversee the set-up, submission, and reconciliation of periodic and quarterly tax deposits

  • Assist tax department in resolving discrepancies on periodic, quarterly, annual tax reports and amendments

  • Manage the set-up of union rates and benefits, submission, and reconciliation of union payments in a high volume, fast-paced environment

  • Work closely with IT in project implementations, testing, custom reporting, set-up of data elements and processes in Workday and JD Edwards (JDE)

  • Liaise with Human Resources, Field Payroll, IT, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Audit and Business Unit Finance personnel and local union representatives

  • Mentor and develop Staff

  • Identify and implement process improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highschool diploma or GED

  • 15 years of payroll experience in a large multi-state/multi-FEIN organization        

  • 10 years of progressive management experience

  • 10 years of construction union payroll experience

  • 10 years of in-house payroll processing

  • Basic accounting experience

  • Proficient knowledge in labor and tax compliance related to payroll and union payroll

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in excel

  • Positive and professional demeanor, with a highly customer service focus

  • Experience with Workday or JDE preferred
