**SIGN ON BONUS: $5,000 (2yr commitment) **

About the Role

Alaska Heart & Vascular Institute (AHVI) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist (CPC) to join our in-office Business Office team in Anchorage. This role is ideal for a coding professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking to deepen their expertise in cardiology coding across outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory settings.

As part of a highly knowledgeable team of coders, billers, and clinical professionals, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

PAY RANGE: $25-36/HR dependent upon experience and education.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Business Office Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

Key Responsibilities

  • Review provider documentation and assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers.
  • Submit clean claims for all billable services.
  • Investigate and resolve coding issues in collaboration with billing, coding, and clinical teams.
  • Monitor payer guidelines and ensure adherence to current coding and documentation standards.
  • Prepare and submit appeals related to medical necessity or coding denials.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication, and a patient-focused approach when interacting with staff, providers, and external partners.
