Job Description

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

· Maintain assigned delivery truck in a clean condition and good mechanical condition

· Inspect tractor and trailer per DOT guidelines and enter pertinent information into ELD before leaving Star of the West property.

· Safely drive to customer address following all DOT and State Highway Department laws and regulations and report to the plant receiver.

· Offload truck at the direction of the receiver or back into assigned dock and wait for forklift operator to unload van trailer.

· Notify the maintenance superintendent of any needed repairs from the daily inspections or damage incurred during delivery.

· Keep abreast of and comply with changing DOT regulations.

· Notify the plant manager of any change in driving status or any accident

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Willingness to work all shifts and weekends when required, with daily overtime up to ELD limitations
  • Maintain a current "Commercial Driver’s License", class A
  • Maintain a current DOT physical card

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Employees must be physically able to perform all driving requirements including but not limited to:

· Physically able to perform all duties / lift a minimum of 75 pounds

· Ability to maintain pertinent log books, inspection sheets and fuel records

· Ability to walk stairs and climb up and down bulk trailers

· Ability to perform inspections, maintain blower driveline (bulk trailers)

· Ability to use a mallet to clear the hoppers on bulk trailers

While performing the duties of this job, employees are exposed to:

· Moving mechanical parts

· Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations

· Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions

· May occasionally work in environments where exposure to certain chemicals or electrical components is possible. All necessary safety protocols and protective equipment    are provided.

· Loud working conditions

· Exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as cold, rain, snow, heat, etc
