Job Description

Title:                          Social Media Manager, Digital Productions

Reports to:             Director, Digital Productions

Job Summary:         The Social Media Manager plays a critical role in shaping and executing The Heritage Foundation’s social media presence by creating compelling content and engaging audiences across the digital landscape. This position owns both long‑term social media strategy and day‑to‑day execution across Heritage‑owned platforms, helping guide Heritage’s social voice. The Social Media Manager identifies trends in the broader social conversation, drives opportunities for deeper audience engagement and community building, and measures performance to ensure continuous optimization and impact.

 

Job Duties:

  • Manage posting on multiple social media platforms for The Heritage Foundation.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and managing weekly schedules for all social media content.
  • Own platform‑specific strategies, ensuring content, tone, and formats are optimized for each social channel.
  • Create, curate, and promote provocative, compelling, and timely content across all social media channels.
  • Proactively identify and test new trends in social media, digital content and traffic opportunities and present them to team members.
  • Create, manage, and optimize Heritage’s paid social media strategy, including campaign planning, execution, and performance analysis.
  • Monitor current events and identify clips from presidential speeches, press briefings, congressional floor speeches, and other public events to post on social media.
  • Evaluate Heritage’s digital footprint, monitor online competitors, and provide recommendations for areas of opportunity.
  • Plan, create, and execute social media content for digital campaigns advancing Heritage’s policy priorities.
  • Work with other Heritage teams to train colleagues on effective use of social media and help build followings of outward-facing Heritage staff.
  • Work closely with allies on Capitol Hill and target content to a Capitol Hill audience. 
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on paid social media advertising for content promotion, audience acquisition, and campaign efforts.

 

Qualifications:

Education:                   Bachelor’s degree

Experience:                 3+ years of digital media experience; previous work in social media and communications for a non-profit, campaign, or Hill office preferred

Communication:         Excellent writing, copy editing, and messaging skills; an articulate advocate of Heritage’s vision and mission

Technology:                Microsoft Suite, various social media platforms, Adobe

The salary range for this role is $68,000 - $82,000 annually. This range is a good-faith estimate, and the final salary offered to a selected candidate depends on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, and other qualifications; internal and external market pay for comparable jobs; and level of hire based on aforementioned qualifications.
