Job Description

Assistant Principal


 


JOB DESCRIPTION:  To assist the principal in ensuring the well-being and academic success of students through collaboration with families, school staff, and outside agencies.


 


QUALIFICATIONS: Administrative certificate preferred, evidence of participation in a leadership program required. Bilingual preferred.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  • Coordinate and assist with monitoring the educational and behavioral performance of all students to ensure academic success.

  • Assist with the documentation process required by federal law to maintain time and effort logs.

  • Assist in the development of intervention plans to help students become successful in school.

  • Coordinate services with the school resource officer and outside agencies to provide an environment, which supports the factors that increase student achievement (i.e. safety, attendance, homeless, medical, and dental programs).

  • Communicate student progress to parents and provide significantly extended learning activities for the home environment.

  • Plan and implement outreach programs to enhance student academic performance and create parental involvement and support.

  • Coordinate extended learning opportunities for students and families (i.e. extended library and computer lab hours, Saturday programs, and field trips).

  • Develop activities that include non-parent members of the community as valued members of the school and community partnership.

  • Assist with responsibilities and documentation processes, which ensure the growth and development of all staff members, to achieve desired student academic outcomes.

  • Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities and obtain a minimum of fifteen (15) clock hours of staff development each year.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY:  Twelve-month position, administrative salary schedule Assistant Principal, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.


 


EVALUATION:  Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy on the evaluation of administrative personnel.
