Description

The Level III NDE Technician is responsible for leading advanced nondestructive testing (NDT) activities, including overseeing and performing calibrations, evaluations, and inspections in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications. This role includes writing, reviewing, and approving NDT procedures, as well as providing technical direction, training, and qualification oversight for Level I and II technicians. The Level III Technician serves as the technical authority within the NDT function and ensures all activities are conducted with the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.


Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, review, and approve NDT techniques, procedures, and instructions to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment; ensure accuracy and integrity of testing processes.

  • Perform and oversee advanced NDT inspections using methods such as RT, MT, PT, UTT, and others as qualified.

  • Evaluate indications and determine acceptance or rejection based on relevant codes, standards, and specifications.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Level I and II Technicians and NDT Assistants.

  • Instruct, mentor, and conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for less experienced technicians.

  • Interpret radiographs, CRT or digital readouts, visual indicators, and other diagnostic tools.

  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of test procedures, results, and personnel qualification records.

  • Participate in audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives as the subject matter expert in NDT.

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and client-specific site requirements.

  • Perform specialized or critical inspections as needed, including final reviews and sign-offs.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Move, carry and lift objects in excess of 50 pounds
  • Climb and perform work from ladders, stairs and scaffolding in excess of 100 feet, continuously throughout shift
  • Be able to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard
  • Be able to step up into vehicles or onto equipment
  • Work extended hours and stand for extended periods of time
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
  • Work in and near industrial hazards
