- Collaborates and consults with parents, teachers and District personnel in designing, implementing and evaluating interventions to improve student's academic success
- Serves as a team member in the screening, evaluation and eligibility determination of students for disability categories as identified under the IDEA
- Facilitates parent-staff meetings to interpret findings and recommendations resulting from evaluations
- Reviews outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations for district compliance
- Provides professional advice and consultation to staff related to psychological needs and services in the schools for the response to intervention process
- Performs and/or collaborates with teams to conduct functional behavior assessments and/or positive behavior supports for struggling students
- Researches and studies the field of child growth and development in order to recognize the academic, social and emotional needs of children
- Develops an understanding of the local community and its educational needs
- Observes children in classroom, at play, evaluates student records and consults with parents, school personnel and administrators
- Counsels students individually and applies psychological methods to assist students to achieve personal, social and emotional adjustment
- Serves as a member of the RTI team in making decisions regarding the success of interventions
- May be required to participate in student's meetings which occur beyond the staff's work assignment schedule
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must possess and maintain valid DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Certified as a School Psychologist in the State of Arizona
- Minimum - Master's degree from an accredited college or university, school psychology training program a plus � Doctoral degree preferred
- Knowledge of psychological testing and assessment techniques and practices
- Knowledge of principles and practices of educational potential and abilities
- Knowledge of child growth and development in order to recognize the academic, social and emotional needs of children
- Knowledge of effective communication and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of federal, state and district rules and regulations as they apply to psychological services of educational institutions including the IDEA and Section 504
- Knowledge of leadership practices and techniques
- Knowledge of nonviolent crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to performing psychological tests and assessments
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally orally and in writing
- Ability to compiling reports and other written documents to a professional level
- Ability to establishing rapport with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Ability to establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
- Ability to performing non-violent crisis interventions, up to and including safe restraint of student for safety purposes.

Position: School Psychologist
Salary Schedule/Base Annual Rate (Subject to Change): Certified Salary Schedule/$65,630. Additional credit for related years of service and education.
Work Calendar: 10 months, 200 days
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
FLSA Status: Exempt
Benefits: Eligible for benefits the first of the month following the new hire date
Reports to: Principal and Director of Special Education
