Amprius has an immediate opening for Quality Technician (Cell Manufacturing)! The Quality Technician is the primary guardian of quality on the production floor. This is an active, 100% shop-floor role designed for a high-autonomy expert who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will operate with an "inspect, diagnose, and repair" mindset, spending your day on the manufacturing floor providing real-time guidance to production operators. This role will be responsible for identifying defects, driving root cause investigations, and managing the non-conformance (NCMR) process from identification to final disposition. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can leverage their deep battery manufacturing knowledge to build and refine quality standards in a rapidly evolving production setting. This is a 3-month TEMP to FTE role.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as the quality expert on the floor, providing real-time technical coaching and quality guidance to production operators based on your cell manufacturing experience.
- Execute rigorous inspections across the production lifecycle, including incoming raw materials (IQC), in-process/in-line inspection (IPQC), and final cell testing (OQC); this includes OCV/IR checks and final product verification.
- Own the end-to-end non-conformance process by logging, tracking, and leading Material Review Board (MRB) activities to drive rapid and efficient material disposition (Scrap, Rework, or Use-As-Is).
- Drive the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) by personally verifying that root-cause solutions are physically sustained at the station level and validated through rigorous audits.
- Leverage your manufacturing expertise to help define, document, and streamline new quality procedures and standards as the production line scales.
- Author and issue Quality Alerts to ensure the entire production team is immediately aware of emerging trends, defects, or critical process updates.
- Support the broader team by maintaining training acknowledgement records, assisting with inventory organization, and coordinating site calibration activities to ensure all measurement tools are in-service.
- Monitor the manufacturing environment to identify potential risks—such as equipment drift or material variance—and proactively collaborate with Engineering to mitigate these risks before they impact yield.
- Utilize dashboards and physical "line walks" to anticipate quality risks and provide proactive feedback to the Production and Engineering teams.
- Support Engineering trials, new line validations, and PFMEA activities to mitigate risks.
