What you will do:



General Tasks




  • Maintain an adequate inventory of linens and supplies for the unit, to include par levels of supplies within endoscopy procedure rooms.

  • Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed.

  • Knowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e. patient body fluids, disinfectant chemicals).

  • Disinfect carts and equipment between patients and maintain standards to provide a safe, clean, and orderly environment.

  • Handle equipment appropriately and in a manner to prevent damage.

  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with all regulatory requirements and/or guidelines. These requirements/guidelines include but are not limited to AAAHC standards, Medicare and state specific guidelines, OSHA, HIPPA, Federal Fraud and Abuse Laws.

  • Comply with ethical, professional, and legal standards inherent in-patient care and professional conduct.



Procedure Room




  • Set up and assist physician with procedures.

  • Ensure that all the equipment is correct for the procedure and in good working order.

  • Safely deliver endoscopes to and from the procedure room.

  • Collect, label, and send specimens with the correct paperwork out of the procedure room.

  • Document thoroughly, accurately, and appropriately for each procedure.



Scope Cleaning




  • Handle all scopes in and out of scope washers for proper disinfection.

  • Manually leak test, brush, and clean endoscopes.

  • Monitor and record chemical concentrations per policy to ensure high level disinfection of equipment is complete.

  • Maintain documentation of reprocessing safety checks to include all scope repairs, disinfectant, and filter change records.

  • Notify supervisor of any damage found while processing the scopes.



Patient Admission




  • Accurately obtain vital signs as indicated and document on chart.

  • Escort patient/families through and assist in checking in of patients as scheduled or needed.

  • Assist in data collection to identify the patient’s needs, problems, concerns, or human responses.



 



What you bring:




  • High School graduate required.

  • Previous medical office experience is preferable.

  • Previous experience with computers is required.

  • Must possess knowledge of acceptable parameters of pulse oximetry and blood pressures, blood borne pathogens and aseptic techniques.

  • BLS certification required.

  • Must have sufficient strength to move carts and assist patients while walking.
