About the Department
The purpose of this position is to monitor individuals with intellectual disabilities in a home environment and interact directly with the families and community. Follows licensing standards, training individuals to be successful in the community. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Position Duties
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Supervises medication administration; fiscal home management; medical appointments, follow-ups; infection control; transportation of clients; and assistance with home chores and shopping errands.
- Communicates with families of clients.
- Monitors spending of client funds.
- Inspects environment.
- Maintains inventory of supplies.
- Maintains electronic health records.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college.
- Over six months and up to and including one year of related experience.
- CPR, OSHA and Defensive Driving Certifications.
- Medication Certification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- IMPORTANT: Submit a copy of certifications with application. Applications submitted without these items will not be considered.
Other Qualifications
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
