Position Summary: Prepares meal trays in full compliance with diet cards and washes dishes and food preparation equipment in compliance with all sanitary procedures and regulations by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

Critical Tasks: 

• Prepares meal trays in full compliance with all meal cards and places items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays
• Follows and complies with therapeutic spreadsheets. 
• Examines filled trays for completeness and places on cart for delivery to resident units. 
• Adheres to resident like’s and dislike’s while complying with a dietary restrictions and limitations.
• Maintains a highly clean working environment in compliance with all policies and sanitary regulations.
• Prepares and delivers food items according to policy. 
• Answers telephone calls with food related requests and responds according to policy. 
• Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers. 
• Records amount and types of certain food items served to patients. 
• Complies with and executes all cleaning schedules and actions. 
• Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine. 
• Washes pots, pans, and trays. 
• Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables, cabinets, and ovens. 
• Sweeps and mops kitchen floors.
•  Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers. 
• Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas. 
• Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions. 
• Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions. 
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. 
• Tribal food handlers card on or within 30 days of hire. 
• Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures. 
• Prior medical environment work experience is preferred. 
• AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
