Job Title: Middle School Boys Assistant Basketball Coach

Location: South Harrison R-2, 
Job Type: Seasonal / Part-Time
Reports To: Head Boys Basketball Coach & Athletic Director

 

Position Summary:
South Harrison R-2 is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School Boys Assistant Basketball Coach to support the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching the game of basketball, mentoring young athletes, and contributing to a positive team culture.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, and team activities


• Teach fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship


• Help organize and supervise team events, including games, travel, and workouts


• Support player development in alignment with the school’s athletic philosophy


• Promote academic success and positive behavior among student-athletes


• Ensure compliance with school, district, and league policies


• Assist with equipment management and gym setup as needed

Qualifications:

• Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience preferred


• Experience working with middle school-aged students is highly desirable


• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills


• Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, students, and parents


• Must pass required background checks and meet district hiring requirements
