As a Camp Elmwood Counselor, you’ll spark imagination, build confidence, and lead unforgettable moments—from the first cannonball at swim time to the cheers at the end of Color War Week. Every day brings something new, and every moment has the power to make a difference.

What You’ll Do

• Lead camp activities like sports, arts & crafts, swimming, archery, STEAM projects, and field trips.
• Create a safe, positive, and energetic environment that celebrates YMCA’s core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Be a role model and mentor, encouraging campers to try new things, build friendships, and grow in confidence.
• Collaborate with fellow staff to plan creative theme days, games, and adventures that campers will never forget.
• Keep campers safe, engaged, and smiling from morning assembly to closing circle.

Your Summer at a Glance

• June through August: 12 weeks of purpose-driven fun and full-time (40-hour/week) engagement.
• Dynamic culture: Laugh, sing, play, and create alongside a passionate team that loves what they do.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• A positive, energetic attitude and a genuine love for working with kids.
• A team player who leads by example and embraces the YMCA mission.
• Strong communication, creativity, and patience—with the ability to bring the fun while staying focused on safety.
• A commitment to helping every camper feel included, supported, and inspired.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• CPR & First Aid certifications (training provided during onboarding).
• Ability to pass a background check and provide proof of immunizations and physician clearance.
• A strong work ethic, flexibility, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
