Job Description

Knik Construction is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician to support construction projects at multiple remote locations throughout Alaska. This role performs Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties under the direction of a QC Manager or Lead QC Technician and works closely with project superintendents. This is a seasonal position that requires travel and onsite living at remote job locations. DavisBacon wages apply where applicable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Contractors Quality Control (CQC) duties in accordance with approved Quality Control Plans.
  • Conduct QC sampling, testing, observation, documentation, and reporting.
    Perform aggregate testing including sieve analysis, fracture count, and flat & elongated testing.
  • Perform hot mix asphalt (HMA) sampling and testing including asphalt content, gradation, density, and coring.
  • Interpret QC and QA test results for compliance with project specifications.
  • Communicate QC results verbally, in writing, and digitally.
  • Prepare and submit QC reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Stonemont software.
  • Safely operate portable nuclear density gauges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and assigned vehicle.
  • Obtain required training and certifications as assigned.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, clients, and the public.
  • Lift, carry, and handle materials, tools, and samples.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • No experience required; 1+ year of construction‑related experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain:
    • WAQTC and ACI certifications
    • Nuclear gauge safety and HAZMAT certifications
    • MSHA and OSHA training certifications
