About the role:
Set and implement overarching QSHE policies and guidelines, to ensure compliance with respect to all internal and external regulations, for all organisation units in the regional assigned.
Your responsibilities:
To directly manage and support the Quality and H&S Personnel within the depots throughout the LMSO.
Provide health & safety expertise to all areas, ensuring that all operational activities comply with current health, safety and environment legislation, ensuring all HSSE policies and procedures are followed and are regularly reviewed.
Reporting into the LSMO Director, you will form part of the Senior team for the North LMSO which includes North of the UK & all of Ireland.
Where necessary assume the role of lead incident controller within the region, travelling at short notice to site/Incident.
Develop and Implement the QHSSE strategy, aligned with the organisation’s, Global AIPSM and Occupational Safety policy and procedures.
Develop and maintain robust safety management systems and protocols to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment incl. development / sign off of SOP’s relating to Safety Critical Tasks.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Engage and communicate with staff at all levels to promote a strong safety culture throughout the organisation incl. Participation in site safety meetings. Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance safety cooperation and information sharing.
Manage the QSHE competency within the sites, develop competency building plans, annual goal setting and objectives. Provide safety training and education programs for the wider Brenntag group to ensure all employees are aware of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe working environment and developing a positive safety culture. Offer leadership support to the Brenntag Excellence / lean 6 sigma programme.
Support / Attend relevant Audits (ISO, BRC, Customer) and provide necessary support for actions arising, ensuring required responses to audit actions are closed out by given deadline(s).
Participate in depot QM reviews and support with internal quality system audits. Ensure audit schedule is maintained, and actions arising from internal audits are promptly closed out.
Customer Support – direct engagement with customers on safety and quality related matters incl. customer site/installation inspections to assess risks and suitability for delivering to.
Drive safety initiatives and campaigns at all levels of the organisation to raise safety awareness, promote best practices, and continuously improve safety performance.
Implement safety policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives and make recommendations for improvements.
Monitor safety performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
Prepare regular safety reports for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting safety performance, incident trends, and recommended actions.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, and lead investigations to determine root causes and develop preventive measures.
Stay updated on relevant safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
Ensure compliance with UK Health, safety and Environmental regulations and other applicable safety standards.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Local Authorities and participate in safety-related audits and inspections.
Manage the major accident hazard identification and risk assessment processes, including HAZID, HIRA, PHR, HAZOP etc. Ensure major accident hazard (MAH) risks are controlled to ALARP.
Involvement in the preparation and revision of key permitting/licence documentation relevant to process safety such as the COMAH safety report, aspects of the EPR permit and Hazardous Substances Consent.
This role will be Based in Ireland with regular travel across Ireland & Scotland and can include the rest of the UK.
