Summary
To assist the physician and nursing staff in a particular department with the management of phone coverage, making appointments, patient flow, prior authorizations, and general paperwork so that quality patient care can be provided as efficiently and pleasantly as possible. Accurately and concisely processes and communicates information to ensure accuracy and that patient needs are met.
Position Reports To: Unit Clinical Manager/Director
Essential Functions
- Perform related assignments and tasks as requested in order to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.
- Answers phones; takes accurate messages; communicates with physicians and nurses as needed; returns calls as directed by physicians or nursing staff while maintaining a pleasant and welcoming demeanor.
- Makes appointments understanding the scheduling workflows of the various providers.
- Schedules special exams, lab, x-ray, and/or surgical procedures as directed.
- Assists with admit, discharge, and transfer workflows.
- Assists patient based on skills and scope.
- Actively maintains current knowledge base on workflows and process.
- Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.
- Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
Desired:
- Medical terminology course.
- Previous experience in a medical or related type of facility or office.
- Ability to type at least 35 wpm.
- Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure.
