Deel is scaling rapidly toward IPO, and our Equity Operations and Financial Planning team is at the center of that growth. We're looking for a Senior Financial Operations Manager who can step in as a trusted operations leader—someone who owns equity operations, drives process automation for scale, and brings financial operations expertise to support our IPO readiness.
This is not a routine operations role. You'll partner directly with the Head of Finance and the Manager of Equity Operations to ensure continuity of mission-critical work, lead by example through ownership and initiative, and help us build the systems and automation infrastructure required for an IPO-ready organization. You'll be the person the team relies on when the going gets complex.
What You'll Own
Internal Equity Operations – Day-to-day ownership of equity grants (RSUs and stock options), equity plan administration, Shareworks platform management, compliance, and cross-jurisdictional equity tax and withholding strategies across 130+ countries.
IPO Readiness – Equity audit preparation, cap table management, grant documentation compliance, and ensuring all systems and processes meet public company standards.
Automation & Scaling – Identify and implement AI solutions and process automation to reduce manual work, create scalable workflows, and build operational dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility.
Financial Operations – Own internal expense program oversight, global payroll compliance mapping, invoice confirmations, and ad-hoc finance support.
Complex Multi-Jurisdictional Work – Handle equity matters across diverse regulatory environments (France, Mexico, India, Japan, Serbia, UAE, Australia, Belgium, etc.), M&A equity scenarios, and liquidity processing.
Team Leadership – Step in to lead the team when needed; serve as a peer coordinator with the Equity Operations Manager and support for equity associates.
Stakeholder Management – Partner seamlessly with Compensation, Accounting, Legal, Corporate, HR, Payroll, and countless internal teams on complex equity and financial operations.
Who You Are
Core Mindset
You take ownership. You see a problem and attack it—you don't wait to be told what to do. If something isn't right, you flag it proactively, troubleshoot before it becomes a crisis, and come back with solutions.
You're a "joker". Adaptable, resourceful, willing to figure things out as you go. You don't need every piece of background knowledge upfront; you have the logic and comprehension skills to learn, connect dots, and make it work.
You deliver. You understand what remote work means – availability, responsiveness, and the ability to step in urgently when needed. You're dependable, and people can count on you to get things done.
You think holistically. You don't just solve the immediate problem – you consider how your solution impacts backend systems, compliance, and downstream teams.
Experience & Background
Ideally, you bring:
A strong foundation in financial operations — typically 5–10+ years across roles in Big 4 audit/tax, in-house equity ops, equity platforms, or startup finance.
Familiarity with equity grants, audits, or compliance — hands-on experience with Shareworks or a comparable platform is a bonus.
Experience navigating global payroll or cross-border tax and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong analytical skills — you're fluent in Excel and comfortable turning data into decisions.
A track record of leading, mentoring, or elevating the people around you — formal or informal.
Exposure to high-stakes financial events like IPOs, M&A, or similarly complex operations.
Nice to have:
A history of scaling operations through rapid growth or major inflection points.
A background in equity management platforms or fintech — you understand the landscape from the inside.
Technical curiosity — you enjoy exploring and building with tools like Claude, Make, or other automation platforms.
