We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Junior High Boys Basketball program at Solomon Middle School for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basketball, a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, and the ability to inspire young athletes to develop their skills both on and off the court. This seasonal position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of student-athletes and promote teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills, teamwork, and game strategies.
- Organize and lead daily practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all participants.
- Coach the junior high boys basketball team during games and tournaments, providing guidance and support.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Monitor and evaluate players’ progress throughout the season, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and sports regulations.
- Promote sportsmanship and ethical behavior among players and coaching staff.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of assistant coaches and volunteers as needed.
- Collaborate with the athletic department to organize team events, including fundraising and community service activities.

Requirements

- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the junior high or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their potential.
- Commitment to the physical and emotional well-being of student-athletes.
- Availability for practices and games, including evenings and weekends during the season.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred but not required.
- A background check will be required prior to employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.
