Fastening Systems Specialist

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Fastening Systems Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all bolted connections and torque-critical fasteners are assembled to precise specifications during the manufacturing process. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality and safety, preventing rework or field failures, and ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards in automotive part assembly.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate torque tools and equipment (manual, pneumatic, DC electric tools).
  • Monitor torque applications across assembly lines to ensure consistency with torque specifications.
  • Perform regular torque audits (manual torque checks, rundown torque tests, etc.) on fastened joints.
  • Maintain detailed records of torque values and tool calibration logs.
  • Troubleshoot torque tool issues and coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Train production team members on proper torque application methods and tool handling.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to reduce torque-related defects and improve line efficiency.
  •  Communicate with Engineering and Quality teams on any deviations or non-conformities related to torque processes.
  • Ensure all tools are used in accordance with safety standards and manufacturing procedures. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Education:  High school diploma or GED. 
  • Years of Experience:  5+ years in a manufacturing environment. 

 

TRAVEL: 

 

  • Travel Required: no

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of torque tools and measurement systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, torque specs, and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience using DC electric torque tools and data collection systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement processes.Ability to effectively interact with and lead people.  
  • Ability to quickly grasp new skills and concepts.
