    Crookston Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our team beginning Fall 2026. We are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students are empowered to achieve their highest potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

    Position Summary

    The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote student growth and independence.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
    • Provide direct instruction aligned with Minnesota state standards
    • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
    • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive practices
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
    • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and goals
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities

      Qualifications

    • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education (or ability to obtain by Fall 2026)
    • Strong knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices
    • Experience working with students with diverse academic and behavioral needs preferred
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
       

      Crookston, MN is located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota and has a population of approximately 7,800.  Agriculture is a very strong part of our community.   University of Minnesota-Crookston campus is located here and is a very strong member and supporter of our community.  Located just 25 miles east of Grand Forks, ND, we are close to the University of North Dakota, ample shopping, dining,  an international airport and more.   District enrollment size is approximately 1100 students, with the high school about 569 students grade 6-12.
