About the Role:

The Driver at Woodland Recovery Center is critical for ensuring the timely and safe transportation of patients, medical supplies, and healthcare personnel across various locations. This position demands a high level of responsibility, as the driver directly impacts the efficiency of healthcare delivery and patient satisfaction. The driver will be expected to navigate diverse routes, often under time-sensitive conditions, while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the vehicle to support uninterrupted service. Ultimately, the driver serves as a vital link in the healthcare supply chain, contributing to the overall mission of providing quality care and support to the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle class being operated.
  • Proven experience in transportation management or a similar driving role.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and GPS navigation systems effectively.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience driving in the healthcare or social assistance sector.
  • Certification in defensive driving or commercial driver training.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Ability to provide basic assistance to patients with mobility challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with healthcare staff and dispatchers.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate healthcare vehicles to transport patients, staff, and medical supplies to designated locations within scheduled timeframes.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes using maps and GPS technology to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist patients and healthcare personnel with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays encountered during transportation.

Skills:

The required skills of transportation management and map reading are essential for daily route planning and ensuring punctual arrivals, which directly affect patient care and operational efficiency. Drivers use transportation management skills to coordinate schedules, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing conditions such as traffic or weather delays. Reading maps and GPS devices allows the driver to navigate unfamiliar routes confidently and select the safest, most efficient paths. Preferred skills, such as defensive driving and knowledge of healthcare protocols, enhance the driver's ability to maintain safety and comply with industry-specific regulations. Strong communication skills support collaboration with healthcare teams, ensuring smooth coordination and responsiveness to any transportation needs or emergencies.
