The purpose of this unique entry-level position is initially to provide general support for the shop, while preparing to advance into a higher-level position and also provide administrative support for the shop. This is a great opportunity for the right person with limited experience but the desire, drive, and mechanical aptitude to learn and work in a machine shop through hands on training and formal technical courses.

Shop Schedule: M-F 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Pay Range: $23.58 - $35.38
Minimum Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have a high mechanical aptitude
Must have basic carpentry and painting skills
Must be able to accurately read a tape measure
Must be able to convert fractions and decimals
Must have ability to precisely measure parts with a caliper & micrometer
Must have knowledge of a dial indicator
Must have previous experience with use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and powered pallet jacks, or related equipment
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Crystal Reports, OMS and Prism or ability to quickly attain knowledge of computer applications
High level of organizational skill and ability to effectively redirect efforts on short notice as needed
Must have ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Must be able to work while sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching
Must be able to lift 60 lbs and work at elevated heights as needed
Must have good safety record on lift and other equipment
Willing and able to work flexible hours to support the needs of customers, including overtime, sometimes with same day notice
Must be able to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
Willingness to travel as required
Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
Must have ability to obtain a passport
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a machine or maintenance shop in a manufacturing environment
General knowledge of the day-to-day operations of shipping & receiving
Previous knowledge or ability to quickly learn computer shop application – JobBoss
Previous experience in customer service

Must be in current position at least 120 days and in good standing
Rating of 'Performer' or higher on most recent performance review
No disciplinary actions 'Written' or higher in last 120 days
Must not be on Performance Improvement Plan
Must not be on probation

Essential Job Functions
Efficient and safe operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts and other equipment needed to move material
Build shipping crates or pallets from wood
Clean and paint finished parts and assemblies
Operate a horizontal bandsaw to cut materials to provide supplies for the shop technicians
Move large structures with overhead cranes and forklifts
Perform routine safety inspections of lift, shop, and plant equipment
Complete Bills of Lading & Master Bills
Working with drivers on load numbers, time, dock location
Coordinate all premium freight
Provide back-up coverage on the shop floor and administrator office and other duties, as assigned
Loading and unloading trucks, and performing all material handling functions for the shop in a safe and timely manner
Adequately processing, filing and maintaining applicable paperwork, data entry, inventory control, verbal and written communications
Coordinate and plan the shipments of finished products as well as receiving raw materials
Accurately complete written and electronic forms and paperwork that will properly account for material being moved and supplied to each machine
Perform cycle counts as needed
General cleaning of the shop area as needed
Climb ladder or sling to perform assigned maintenance tasks
Must be a team player and be willing to assist in other job functions to fulfill key measures throughout the facility as needed
Must maintain a clean and safe work area at all times, including surrounding areas
