The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, running and or test cutting production parts to meet our planned schedules and quality requirements.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
• Operate, Set-Up, and Inspect various production parts on CNC Lathe equipment
• Modify part programs to print specification for size, shape and tolerancing.
• Utilize Mazatrol programming for operation of CNC lathe equipment.
• Create tooling layout when applicable and or for new test cut parts.
• Set up of parts using chucks, jaws & steady rests for work holding of the raw materials.
• Set up of work holding tables for automated systems to load machines from in an automated environment.
• Use overhead crane to assist with the set up of raw materials.
• Blueprint reading to run and check parts with against.
• Maintain the equipment for good working operation checking oil levels and lube levels daily/weekly.
• Perform accuracy checks throughout run cycle and document for ISO requirements.
Education/Certification:
• Mechanical background is preferred, such as running manual and CNC lathe equipment.
• Past training as a lathe operator with programming skills.
• Vocational training in related field of CNC Lathe operator.
• An associate degree in Machining or Manufacturing.
Skills:
• 3 years of CNC lathe experience required.
• Ability to program using different methods to test cut a part to print specs.
• Must be familiar with the metric system and have strong math skills.
• Must be familiar with various gaging instruments such as finger indicators, plunge indicators, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, tape measure and scales.
• Familiar with Mazatrol, EIA/ISO formats.
• Must be familiar with chuck jaws, steady rests and work holding techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good work ethic and ability to multitask.
• Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and basic GD&T.
• Ability to setup, test cut, and check the entire process to produce the most accurate parts to meet production demand.
• Ability to understand what the cutting conditions are and make the necessary adjustments to provide a part in the quickest / safest manner to meet production needs.
• Ability to take responsibility for parts made and be able to stand behind your work.
