Summary:

A Utility Associate assists with duties in the housekeeping and kitchen departments. Receives all vendor deliveries, checks in, unpacks and stores products.  This position also washes and sanitizes cooking and serving items as well as kitchen equipment, walls, and floors.  The Kitchen Utility Associate worker supports the Dining Services department’s mission of delivering quality service. Responsible for assigned cleaning and housekeeping duties within established quality care and service standards in accordance with applicable company, federal, state, and local standards.

What You Will Do:

  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, pots and pans, food carts, and food preparation equipment (including ovens and ranges).
  • Empty kitchen garbage/trash and sanitize containers as needed.
  • Check in, unpack, and store dry goods, cleaning supplies, and cold stock.
  • Oversee and maintain food storage areas; when necessary, assist in cleaning of food service areas and heavy equipment.
  • Pull frozen meats to be used on following days and return unused items to freezer.
  • Keeps temperature checks current throughout the kitchen.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors. Maintain cleanliness of all walls in kitchen and serving areas.
  • Assist with buffet set up and special functions.
  • Demonstrate positive resident relations and facility’s quality care and service standards to residents, families, and guests. Maintain positive, cheerful attitude at all times. 
  • Follow sanitation guidelines.
  • Clean and service public/common areas and private resident areas in accordance with established health, hygiene, and appearance policies and regulations (including safety and risk management) and in order of priority established by supervisor.
  • Follow all housekeeping protocols and procedures in dusting, polishing, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, etc.
  • Properly dispose of refuse, adhering to infection control standards.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies so as to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents. Keep utility rooms clean and organized.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments, as necessary.
  • Assist with servicing resident laundry, as assigned.
  • Dependable and able to meet schedule requirements (attendance and punctuality).
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Attend in-service classes and staff meetings.
