Job Description
 

The King's Academy is currently seeking Substitute Teachers on our main campus supporting the academic school year in our Middle and High School. The Substitute Teacher will be a Christian that has a passion for education and will help students learn the subject matter while contributing to their development as mature Christians in the absence of their regular teacher.   

Essential Job Functions:   

  • Report to the Administrative Assistant in the MS/HS Principal’s office for classroom information and assignment 
  • Perform all duties and follows outlined routines and procedures for the absent teacher as detailed in the lesson plan and as required by TKA for the classroom assigned  
  • Lead and teach all assigned classes in the location and times designated in the schedule outlined by the classroom teacher demonstrating a high level of punctuality 
  • Provide classroom leadership and management of students while providing instruction and moving throughout the classroom ensuring students are going to be monitored during this time 
  • Maintaining a high interest level for students by creating conducive learning environment that is appropriate for the maturity and subject matter of instruction facilitated in the classroom while not sitting for extended periods of time

Required Qualifications and Experience:   

  • Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith and ability to integrate sound Christian principles in teaching and mentoring of students 
  • Feel a calling by God to lead students in education 
  • Excellence in problem solving, organizational skills, conflict resolution, independent motivation and using the appropriate level of tact and diplomacy
  • Must possess strong communication skills in both verbal and written form, the ability to quickly establish rapport with students, ability to teach and engage learners while managing the classroom with best practices 
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and have a high degree of diplomacy and tact
  • Experience using classroom technology preferably on MS Office based products 
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with existing faculty, staff and administration members while managing daily tasks
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior education and teaching work experience preferred but not required 
  • Minimum of Associates Degree or higher and prefer teaching certification but not required
