Position Summary and Scope of Service 

The Pharmacy Student provides support to Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants within the Health and Transition Services (H&TS) Pharmacy. This role contributes to the safe, accurate and efficient delivery of medications through administrative and hands-on support activities. Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent 
  • Enrollment in, or completion of, a Pharmacy Assistant program (college-level) is considered an asset 
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is an asset 
  • Demonstrated interest in pharmacy studies or pursuing a career in pharmacy 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to remain focused on repetitive tasks
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Program) 

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be available to work the full duration of the placement
  • This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program for 8-weeks 

Key Responsibilties

  • Support medication distribution processes to ensure safety and accuracy
  • File and organize pharmacy records
  • Review medication expiration dates
  • Label medications and assist with packaging processes
  • Assist with receiving and unpacking pharmacy orders
  • Support packaging of medications using the 35-day card system
  • Operate heat seal equipment (training provided)
  • Use pharmacy systems (e.g., KROLL) to generate labels
  • Assist with returned medication cards and inventory handling
  • Remove expired medications and labels
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Work Schedule

  • Monday and Friday: 9:00AM – 2:00PM
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9:00AM – 4:00PM
  • Closed on weekends and statutory holidays
  • This is an onsite position located on the 3rd floor of the main building at St.Amant
