    Title: Assistant Teacher � Family Resource Center (FRC) Pre-K

    Work Year: 12 months, full-time
    Department: Family Resource Center / Early Childhood Education
    FLSA Status: Non-Union / Non-Represented, Non-Exempt
    Reports To: Head Teacher, under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood
    Hourly Rate: $17.59 - $23.25; plus benefits

     

    Position Overview:

    The Assistant Teacher supports the implementation of the Family Resource Center (FRC) Pre-K program by assisting with daily classroom activities and supervising children in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Head Teacher to ensure the classroom reflects the mission and philosophy of the FRC and Branford Public Schools Early Childhood Department.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Classroom Support and Instruction

    • Implement lesson plans and activities developed by the Head Teacher.
    • Assist in facilitating developmentally appropriate learning experiences for preschool-aged children.
    • Support instructional activities and small-group work as directed by the Head Teacher.

    Classroom Environment and Supervision

    • Assist in setting up and cleaning up the classroom site on a daily basis.
    • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and orderly classroom environment.
    • Supervise children throughout the school day in accordance with program guidelines.
    • Demonstrate appropriate behavior and positive interaction strategies when working with children.

    Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

    • Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher to address classroom needs and student support strategies.
    • Meet regularly with the Head Teacher to share updates, address concerns, and plan next steps.
    • Model professionalism and respectful communication when interacting with children, families, and staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
    • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to work effectively with young children in a classroom setting.
    • Ability to follow instructional guidance and collaborate as part of a team.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and flexible demeanor.
    • Ability to support a structured and organized learning environment.
    • Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the Family Resource Center and Branford Public Schools.
