About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing maintenance functions across Jerritt Canyon, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mobile equipment, fixed plant, and site infrastructure. This role provides both strategic and frontline leadership to maintenance teams, supporting operational readiness and long-term asset performance.

Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Technical Services, the Superintendent drives maintenance execution, reliability improvements, and workforce development while ensuring alignment with site and corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all site maintenance activities across mobile equipment, fixed plant, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership and direction to maintenance supervisors, planners, and technical teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and performance.
  • Manages team performance by aligning individual goals with organizational objectives, delivering regular performance feedback, and supporting employee development through training and career progression opportunities.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability, availability, and overall performance.
  • Ensure effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities in coordination with Operations and Planning teams.
  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive records of components and maintenance activities to ensure accurate tracking, compliance, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor and analyze maintenance KPIs, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure availability of critical spares, materials, and contractor support.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance management.
  • Support capital projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across maintenance activities.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices for maintenance operations.
  • Coordinate contractor activities and ensure alignment with site standards, safety expectations, and performance requirements.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to site leadership on maintenance performance, risks, and improvement plans.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support overall site performance and operational objectives.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive maintenance experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance teams, including supervisors and technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, including preventative, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and work management systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation in a complex operational environment.
  • Experience supporting both mobile equipment and fixed plant maintenance functions.
  • Experience supporting capital projects and equipment commissioning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive performance improvements.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
