For our customer, the European Space Agency (ESA), we are seeking an experienced space AIT / Production Engineer to work at ESA’s ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
Job description
You will be a member of a Technical Assistance Service Team integrated into the customer to support the EU/ESA IRIS2 programme under the responsibility of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications (D/CSC).
Responsibilities
As AIT & Production Engineering Specialist reporting to the Service Manager you will be responsible for providing engineering support related to the space segment integration and testing, including, but not limited to, the support to IRIS2 satellites AIT industrial activities.
The key tasks to be performed are:
- Support Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) activities for IRIS2 system elements.
- Contribute to the definition and optimisation of production and industrialisation processes.
- Support production readiness assessments and validation of manufacturing flows.
- Interface with hardware teams and industrial partners on integration aspects.
- Ensure alignment with quality, safety, and industrial standards.
This is a full-time position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
The foreseen start of work is May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

How to succeed in this position?
The successful candidate shall have:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
- At least 4 years relevant professional working experience including extensive experience in satellite AIT/AIV.
- Familiary with large space projects and the related development reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) and processes.
- Experience with performing design trade-offs, risk assessments, interface definitions and the generation of AIT plans and reports.
Desirable:
- Experience with procurement activities.
- Familiarity with the space ECSS standards.
Soft skills:
- Service orientation and ability to liaise with other domains.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Good English language skills, written and spoken.
Note: Candidates must be eligible for Personal Security Clearance from an EU country.
