About the Department
The University of North Alabama’s Spencer College of Education and Human Sciences is accepting applications for the position of Tenure-Track, Rank Open faculty in Early Childhood/Elementary Education within the department of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership. This position appointment will be effective in Fall of 2026, preferably. This position offers the opportunity to travel and teach abroad. The Educator Preparation program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation and approved by the Alabama State Department of Education. Salary will be commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.

Position Duties
Essential job duties include the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in early childhood and/or elementary education; the ability to advise students; and the ability to work with students as well as P-6 schools and administrators. Additional duties include participation in university and community service initiatives; serving in an active and involved leadership role in both college and university committees; and involvement with research activities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in early childhood education, elementary education, or a closely-related field from an accredited university is required;
- ABD will be considered, provided degree conferral will occur before the time of appointment;
- Closely-related field in education (i.e. curriculum and instruction) will be considered if the applicant possesses a significant number of graduate hours in early childhood or elementary education;
- Eligibility to possess teaching credentials in early childhood and/or elementary education is required;
- A minimum of three years of recent, successful P-6 experience is required;
- Experience in and/or the ability to deliver online instruction is required;
- Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred;
- Interest in or experience directing student research is preferred; and
- Experience in the supervision of interns in the P-12 setting is preferred.

Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of “Issued to Student”, or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
